Privacy Policy

Account information

When you create an account, Bulletin collects your email address. Your password is handled by our authentication provider — Bulletin never stores, transmits, or sees your password. [Needs owner review: name and practices of the specific auth provider.]

Public profile

Your username, display name, avatar, and bio are visible to other signed-in users. You can edit or change these at any time from your profile settings.

Friendships and friend activity

When you send or accept a friend request, that friendship is visible to you and the other person. Your friends can see articles you've hearted on your profile, unless you turn off "Show my liked articles to friends" in Settings. Bookmarks, feeds, and reading history are always private to you.

Direct messages and group chats

Messages you send in direct and group chats are stored so that participants can see them. Only active members of a conversation can read its history. Group members who have been removed or left cannot see new messages. If you block someone, neither of you can see the other's messages.

Uploaded images

If you upload a profile photo, it is stored in the app's file storage and shown to other users on your profile. [Needs owner review: retention period for uploaded images and whether old avatars are deleted when replaced.]

Article interactions and reading signals

Bulletin records how you interact with articles — hearts, hides, bookmarks, article opens, time spent reading, and AI chat queries — to personalize your feed and improve recommendations. These signals are private to you and are not shown to other users.

Analytics

Bulletin tracks aggregate usage events (such as app opens, article reads, and shares) to understand how the app is used and improve it. Analytics events do not include message text, bios, emails, or full interaction history. Aggregate metrics are visible only to admins.

Reporting and admin review

When you report a profile, message, or group, the report is visible to admins for review. Reports include the reason you provide and the identifier of the reported content.

Account deletion

You can delete your account at any time from Settings. Deletion removes your profile, friendships, saved feeds, interactions, and bookmarks. Your messages remain in other people's conversations, attributed to "Deleted user." This action cannot be undone.

Service providers

Bulletin is hosted on the Base44 platform, which provides the servers, database, and authentication infrastructure. Base44 processes data on our behalf as a service provider. [Needs owner review: any additional third-party services or APIs used, such as news data providers.]
